Common Questions and Answers
What is a personal care home?
A personal care home is a residence offering protective care and oversight of a person who needs a watchful environment but does not have an illness, injury, or disability requiring chronic or convalescent care, such as medical or nursing services.
Is a personal care home or nursing home better for my or a loved ones needs?
That decision depends on the level of care needed. Personal care homes offer a more home-like setting and are suitable for individuals who need assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, and medication reminders, but don't require constant medical supervision. On the other hand, a nursing home is appropriate for those with significant medical needs, requiring 24/7 skilled nursing care, and potentially needing assistance with complex medical tasks. Personal care homes are the perfect option for individuals with stable chronic conditions or those needing assistance with medication management. A nursing home on the other hand is necessary for individuals with complex medical conditions, such as heart disease, COPD, or diabetes complications, requiring ongoing monitoring and skilled nursing care.
How is my level of care determined?
Prior to move-in, one of our team members conducts an in-person assessment to ensure that we understand your healthcare needs and can provide the highest level of care. This involves reviewing a recent physician's report outlining your current health status and a thorough review of your medical history. This ensures that we're familiar with your unique health profile and can tailor our services accordingly. Beyond the medical, we believe that a personalized approach to care is essential. We take the time to learn about your preferences and normal routines. This knowledge allows us to create an Individualized Care Plan (ICP) that not only meets your healthcare needs but also aligns with your lifestyle and preferences.
Our commitment to your wellbeing doesn't end once the care plan is in place. We understand that your needs may change over time, and we're prepared to adapt accordingly. To ensure that you're receiving the most effective and appropriate care at all times, the ICP is regularly reviewed and updated to meet your evolving needs.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
